Stupid Bill tricks. I
downloaded a GIF animating program and played with it, producing
the following stupid three frame gif. Yeah, it's dumb, but I
have to practice something NEW over the 3 day weekend, don't I?
Christopher and
Dad spent the week of August 19 -25 together at Lake
Tahoe.
One day we went to the Forest Interpretive center. He hopped
around and had fun in the sun. On the left, he gets into
measuring stream flows. On the right, we visit the fish and
stream viewing chamber. He does look a bit tired! Posted:

A
camping Adventure with The Boys. July, 2001
This one is
pretty cool. As we set up camp, I assigned the Tent to The
Boys, while I
took care of the kitchen. They just did it! They got
the tent up with a minimum of help. Posted August 21, 2001.
July 18, 2001 while on Adventure in the El Dorado
Forest, Colt turns 13
- a teenager at last! His mom sent along a gift, which
pleases Colt (left). It's a radio controlled airplane, which
is right at home in the forest meadows. On the right, He
certainly is looking his age, isn't he? Posted

A 13th birthday calls for a cake, of course, even
in the deep wilderness,
so we went to town and bought supplies, including a
cheesecake. It was too small to fit 13 candles, not to
mention the problems associated with keeping them lit
outdoors. What to do? As an old Fire Alarm Geek, it's
simple: Tap it out in Fire Alarm Telegraph code! Box 1
- 3! Units due: Pieces of cake! You can even see it in
the flames of the candles, (Backwards, of course). Christopher
looks on with some trepidation, but he winds up enjoying cherry
cheese cake after all. Posted August 21, 2001.
Now that the setting up and the celebrating is
done and finished, it's
down to some serious camping business! On the left,
Colt studies his 3 R's: "Resting on the Royal
Rock" ! On the right, Christopher is using his
time chasing down a lizard, which he caught. He examined him
and played with him for awhile, then let him go on his way.
Crawdads were also caught on this trip, like last year but, rather
than eat them, they donated them to a Firefighter in an adjoining
campsite - who did! Posted August

On
the big night, both of The Boys used their skills learned in
Scouting to
lay a fire. Colt took honors in lighting it, but both of The
Boys enjoyed it's warmth. Posted August 22,

Truly,
these Boys were "camped out", thanks to all the camps
they
chose to do
this year, so our camping time was short. Still, they were
able to disassemble the tent and make it ready for travel - all by
themselves. I'm so proud of them both. On the Left,
you can see that they had both worked to put the tent away.
On the Right, you can see that they both had a great time piloting
race cars at the local Amusement Park... Posted

The Boys and I had a great time this June,
2001! On the left, we take in
a Giant's game on my Birthday. Later that
same weekend, we went camping with an Amateur Radio group.
Christopher helps me get ready to defend my title as "Champaign
Cork Popping Champion". I lost, of course. The
winner doesn't even drink! What is up with that? Posted

A couple of my
best friends talked me into going with them to the top
of Heavenly
Valley (why do they call a Mountain, a Valley?) gondola.
This was in May, 2001. They took some pictures, and gave me
two. Yes, I know. Hat hair. Posted May

Easter
Sunday, 2001. The Boys and I take my Mom, their Grandmother,
to Th
e Club for a
nice Brunch. Are The Boys getting handsome, or
what? Posted May 30, 2001
Take
me out to the ballgame! Here we are watching the San
Francisco Giants at Pacific Bell Park in July 2000. Posted

Well, there I was working on
some genealogy - coincidentally The Boys each have school
assignments
requiring
the use of a family tree - and a picture of their Grandfather (My
Dad) was called for. Although Mom was concerned that I might
damage it, she loaned me a picture of my Dad, just going off to
fight World War Two. No wonder the Japanese lost. This
guy could kick some butt! When I was 19, he got angry at me,
and challenged me to try to fight him. NO, WAY!
I, (just back from British Columbia and a Rugby player),
intelligently and politely declined. I got out of the way.
Unfortunately, within the space of a week, he died. Posted October 31, 2000
Is this too weird for words? No, it's
not. Here's another early photograph, passed through the
scanner. The little Boy on his Father's knee is me!
The other players are Dad, Mom and little Sister. I'm glad I
scanned it. Now, it's digitized forever. Taken about
1956. Posted October 31, 2000.
Sometimes, a photo
opportunity just happens. Here's a shot of S.F.F.D Station
39. Note
how the shadow casts the company number on the front wall. I
thought it was cool. I presented them with a framed copy on
election day.

Saint
Patrick's Day feast with the Boys at their Grandmother's
house. This is the first published photo of me wearing my
new reading glasses. Hey, if you're an avid reader like me -
you just have to do what it takes! Posted
